Panelist Recommended Resources:
- Vermont Woodland Association Climate Change Resources Webpage
- 12 Steps to Climate Resilience: Managing Your Forests with Climate Change in Mind
-
Ethan Tapper’s LinkTree Account – this website is packed with loads of excellent material from Ethan including videos, articles, presentations, etc. on a broad host of topics.
-
A quick guide to adaptation planning for natural resources professionals – step by step guide for identifying climate change impacts on your property and selecting appropriate adaptation strategies to address them. Created by the USDA and the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science
-
Forest Carbon – perhaps the most useful primer on forest carbon written by Dr. Anthony D’Amato at UVM and Dr. Paul Catanzaro at the University of Massachusetts.
-
Forest Carbon Markets – What are Forest Carbon Markets – developed by Vermont’s Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation with links to various other reports/primers.
-
Securing Northeast Forest Carbon Program – an excellent series of lectures on forest carbon by Ali Kosiba, formerly Vermont’s Climate Forester, and now at UVM Extension. These lectures start with background information and then get increasingly complex toward the end of the series.
-
Northam Forest Carbon – this is Tim Stout’s website for his group by the same name focused on bringing forest carbon to landowners. While it needs some revamping, it may have additional information beyond what’s above. This Forest Carbon Poster was created to bring the concept of forest carbon to landowners in a straightforward manner.
-
Family Forest Carbon Program – one of several Forest Carbon programs now offered in Vermont. I’ve included this here because I’ve been engaged with it for the last three years and have participated in its pilot and will participate in the full scale program this winter.
-
Healthy Forests for Our Future – excellent resource on the composition of healthy forest created by The Nature Conservancy and the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science
-
Restoring Old-Growth Characteristics – another excellent primer by Tony D’Amato and Paul Catanzaro on old growth forests – specifically how to build old growth characteristics in our forests.
Congratulations to all of our awards recipients
Kathleen Wanner Outstanding Leadership Award- presented to Kathleen Wanner in appreciation of her outstanding leadership as Executive Director of VWA and Administrator of the Vermont Tree Farm Committee and her unwavering commitment to countless other forestry boards and organizations.
