Women on the Land: A Landowners Guide to Stewarding Her Woodlands (In-person)

Saturday, July 24
9 AM- 12 PM
Experience a guided hike at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller NHP, led by Olivia Lukacic, author of the Women on The Land publication. Olivia will be joined by several female foresters from the Northeast region. We will learn about their experiences as foresters in a typically male-dominated field and their unique perspectives on forest management. Using the Mount Tom Forest (one of the oldest professionally managed forests in the United States) as a classroom, we will also hear about the history of several forest stands and the intricacies involved with managing a historic forest.  This Working Woodlands Workshop is co-hosted by Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller NHP and the Billings Farm and Museum and co-sponsored by Vermont Coverts and Vermont Woodlands Association. The hike will be approximately 3 miles with elevation gain. Please plan on dressing appropriately and bringing water and snacks if needed. Face masks are required for individuals who are not yet fully vaccinated. Register by emailing joseph_sullivan@partner.nps.gov with the number of individuals in your party and any questions you may have. Space is limited to 25 participants.
