WOW Forestry Demonstration Walk and Talk: Improving the woods through a crop tree release

WOW Forestry Demonstration Walk and Talk: Improving the woods through a crop tree release

Sunday, September 18
10 am-12 pm
Bolton, VT

Have you ever wondered what a crop tree release means? Join the WOW (Women Owning Woodlands) Network for a walk in one of our new forestry demonstration projects in Bolton. The walk is open to all and will be hosted by landowner, Alyssa Bennet. We will be looking at a planned crop tree release project, a silvicultural treatment that promotes the growth of individually selected trees, in order to improve the overall health of the forest. Ethan Tapper, Chittenden Country Forester, will join us to talk about the goals of a crop tree release and how this treatment will improve the ecological and economic value of the forest into the future. The project is laid out and marked, but has not been implemented. Come see what is planned, and learn about this forestry practice! Sign up to let us know you are coming!
